A Hero’s Journey
Cost: $875.00
About A Hero’s Journey
In Joseph Campbell’s landmark book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Campbell outlines a plotline that exemplifies transformation. I have designed a process to guide you through the archetype transformation so that you can make the application to your own life.
The first 12-week course will be based on a “Monomyth” a term coined by the mythologist Joseph Campbell. It is a basic pattern that underpins myths and stories from a wide variety of cultures. The hero is called to adventure; he leaves his home and sets forth to face many challenges and adventures. Transformed and victorious he then returns home with a reward. We will start your journey by taking stock of your current situation in various aspects of your life. ‘You then begin to identify your hero within and the quest you are each seeking. Having done this and gathered some resources you will depart on your 90 day adventure. In your journey you will face your inner enemies, critics or demons, which often block and hold you back from doing what you want to do. You will play and dialogue with them, get to know them better, and finally confront them in order to enter into… “a region of supernatural wonder where fabulous forces are there encountered…” (Joseph Campbell). Our many heroes will go through various “tests” before returning home with the reward to be integrated into their life.
A Hero’s Journey Weekend Workshop
A Hero’s Journey weekend workshop we will be playing The Samurai Game. It is arguably the most unique, intense and challenging leadership and team building simulation.
Because the Game is “live and unscripted” no two Samurai Games are alike. Each serves to significantly deepen individual and organizational awareness, leadership effectiveness and team cohesion. Every Game presents a series of unpredictable and fascinating examples that can reflect: the pressures of business, organizational dynamics and politics, professional competition, family and individual daily life. At a minimum the Game presents repeated opportunities for each participant to observe himself or herself honestly on these questions:
(1) To what degree are you willing act decisively and with integrity to get the results you say that you want and need?
(2) Upon what principles and core values do you stake your life and success?
(3) How well do you function in the face of uncertainty and the unfair.
For these reasons individuals and organizations often invest repeatedly in the experience.
